i've also been looking at the use of japanese symbols...that i think could also work on the covers

Dust jacket

i have been thinking of idea's for my dust jacket and one of the first things i thought might be good to take a look at was the theme of Japanese art. each book could have a different design but they would still work well as a series because they all have the same style of art.

these are a few images i picked out that i thought some element could be used on the covers:

These are a series of book jackets designed by Tom Petty.
these are a series of books written by H.G Wells, in the designing  of these jackets he picked one visual element from each of them and used that as his main inspiration of the covers. i thought they were really unique and a really clever idea.

these next set of books were designed by igor "rogix" idushlivy. i like these because of the bookmark added to the design. i thought this was really funny, creative and practical too!

this is a basic layout design for a dust jacket, i thought before working on my design it would be best to see how the image would be laid out. That way it will be easier to transfer my design.

book design research

http://www.mckennakemp.com/work/virginia-woolf-books/

these are Virginia Woolf books, Mrs. Dalloway, To The Lighthouse and The Waves redesigned by Mckenna Kemp. I liked the design of these books and the way they flow into one another. for me, this is a good example of how i want my own dust jacket designs to look.
